It feels like you’re sitting with a bunch of friends, watching them learn and dick around and make bad decisions, but still, ultimately, be good, honest, funny people. I adore the sort of goofy, raw feelings that accompany the laughs you get when you watch them. I’ve been saying that from the beginning. I can only hope that seeing their funny interactions and my reviews of them has encouraged someone to find happiness in them that they gave me. I’ve been such a big fan of them forever, and they’ll always be an important part of my life, but I’ve definitely moved on. I think it’s only fitting that I end this blog here. It’s funny – even though I’ve been growing out of the Grumps a little, branching out to more comedy suited to me, they still have a large impact on me and have encouraged me to become a better person. They make an effort to be as real as possible, owning up to their mistakes and listening when fans complain to them. It was one of the funniest ads just because of how genuinely happy Arin was to be there the joy on his face was incredible.Īll the live skits and advertisements emphasize what I like so much about the Grumps. He went around tasting burgers and looking at everything in pure awe. The greatest victory the Grumps ever experienced was having Wendy’s take Arin on a tour of the Wendy’s headquarters. The farthest Arin went was to have a surprise meetup at the Wendy’s near an area he was visiting, recording the whole thing and starting huge boosts of photos on Twitter, posting it in an episode of Game Grumps, and then ending the skit with him standing in front of the Wendy’s headquarters holding a boombox. There was a lot of (fake) Twitter drama over fast food chains dating Arin or the Game Grumps account, but still, there was no official advertisement.

He gave them free advertisements for literal years, giving them shout outs on the show and nearly every week on Twitter, to the point where Wendy’s and Arin eventually started “dating”. The most intricate and long winded ad was Arin’s begging to have Wendy’s sponsor him. The most creative ones tend to be for their own merchandise and shirts, which always feature themed music and outfits. These mini commercials usually feature all of the Grumps doing something stupid. It’s just reccomending a product to you in the silliest way possible. It’s not trying to trick you, it’s not trying to pretend like the Grumps are Super For This Product and that you need to buy it because of that. What is interesting about the commercial is that you can tell it is made with the sole purpose of being an ad. It’s one of the funniest videos that they have on their channel, and it’s been reposted on Tumblr and has gathered thousands of notes. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched that commercial.

Their first real advertisement was for Crunchyroll, which was full of goofy nonsense and seemed to be done in only one take.

Game Grumps does a series of goofy, inpersonal live action commercials for various products. If McDonald’s wanted to sponsor me, I’d let them. It shows their brutal honesty and adds more to their personalities and the realness of the show. This might turn off a lot of people to the content, but frankly, it’s hilarious to me. They’ve repeatedly said they would perform “sexual acts” for Baskin Robins, Arin has explicitly begged Wendy’s to do an ad with them (he eventually did), and has repeatedly said that they would love to be sponsored by big companies. While many other Youtubers say they will never sell out, that they will never produce commercial or content that would be in favor of their sponsors, Game Grumps goes completely South of that. However, sometimes, you get to see the Grumps in all of their glory during their advertisements. Most of the time, you hardly see the boy’s faces, and when you do they’re on their twitter or in five second video splurges for funsies during a special episode. Game Grumps is an audio and technological based medium by default.
